I made NT's beet kvass for the first time and had about 4 oz. yesterday
and today. About 30 minutes after having the drink today, I got severe
diarrhea and it has last all afternoon. Is this a normal reaction? I've
read this is a healthy drink, but I certainly can't have this type of
response to it! Have others experienced the same thing?

Here is the conversation we had with Trish when she had a reaction to
the kvass a few months ago:

Help! I have been following NT for about 6 weeks or so and am now
having my
worst allergy season in years. A number of people said they do not have
allergies following this diet--what do you think makes the difference?
Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Trish

You could be having a herxheimer reaction where your symptoms get
worse before they get better:

"The reaction has been attributed to liberation of endotoxins-like
substances or of antigens (a substance which causes an immune
reaction) from the killed or dying microorganisms.

Simply stated, it is a reaction that occurs when the body is
detoxifying and the released toxins either exacerbate the symptoms
being treated or create their own symptoms such as headaches, body
ache, joint pain, sweating, general malaise, sore throat, nausea and
or / flu like symptoms.

The reaction is caused by an immune system reaction to the toxins
(endotoxins) that are released when large amounts of pathogens are
being killed off and the body does not eliminate the toxins quick enough."

Cheers,
Tas'.

Oh, BTW, you could either cut back on something that might be causing
it - have you started coconut oil, kimchi or kombucha in the last few
days - or you could wait it out and it may ease up soon.

I meant to say kefir instead of kimchi.

Yup. This is why God made activated charcoal. See the site I just
posted as to
how to use it properly. Shown to be much better than clays. ..tls

I have not started any of these yet, although I do have coconut oil
on order.
I have been drinking raw milk for about a month (I had not taken milk
before
this) and I am not having digestive problems. In the past week when these
symptoms have accelerated I having been taking the recommended 4 oz of
beet
kvass morning and night. Maybe I should cut back on the beet kvass?
Thanks for all your help.

Ah! That would do it :-)
