Where to buy supplements
The following are popular online vendors of nutritional supplements. If you live outside the U.S., some of them are happy to ship your order but shipping options may be limited.
- iHerb
- Vitacost
- Swanson
- Beyond A Century (does not ship internationally anymore)
Hard to find supplements
- Molybdenum
Kirkman Labs carries molybdenum, but I had a hard time finding other sources. iHerb carries Allergy Research Group's liquid molybdenum product.
- Butyrate
For Canadians
The CanadianVitaminShop seems to be the cheapest Canadian vendor. They have friendly customer service (when Canada Post temporarily lost an order, they shipped a replacement promptly), and free shipping for orders over $50.
However, they are like other Canadian sites and suffer from lack of selection, or too much Natural Factors! And finally, iHerb is still cheaper for almost everything I have bought.
What I use
Despite the extra costs in shipping because I live in Canada, I use iHerb for several reasons. They are the cheapest or amongst the cheapest for brands I generally trust (e.g. NOW, Jarrow, etc). They do not have a conflict of interest by trying to sell house brand (no-name) supplements, unlike some sites. They have fast turnover, an air conditioned warehouse, and huge selection of brands. And finally, after shipping and taxes, they are almost always cheaper than buying from a Canadian website or local store.
