We've been adding it when we make yogurt, and we put some in the
kefir brew. It's impossible to know how the Shirota strain competes
without an analysis.<<

I think for that reason alone it's probably better just to take it separately. There is a good chance that it would colonise (especially in Yoghurt), but some chance that you are just pouring money and any benefits down the drain.

That said, what are the supposed benefits of the L Casei "Shirota"?
