They said they could try a composite but it probably wouldn't be
successful, because once you do a pulpotomy the tooth becomes very
brittle like an eggshell and a composite is not strong enough to
hold it together, and could even damage the tooth more.
Thank you for your reply.

My son had a pulpotomy and they put in the composite . It's a

teeth
that needed a pulpotomy. One they were able to do a composite
filling, the other they pulled because it got infected. They
were
going to put in a spacer, but it was not going to be metal. (I

a
month, and it would be OK without. My son is 9, though, so maybe
that makes a difference. How long are they saying a composite
filling would last?

Does anybody know of any alternatives to pulpotomy? My 6 year-old

Is
there a way to fix it without putting that formocresol in there
for a
few weeks and then putting a stainless steel crown that probably
contains nickel, cadmium and lead? I doubt I could get the
dentist to
agree to pull it, and even if he did, there'd have to be a metal
spacing appliance put in (which would most likely contain nickel,
cadmium, lead - like braces). A white composite filling wouldn't
be
strong enough. They said they only will do stainless steel
crowns on
baby teeth. Does anyone know of any brands of stainless crowns
that
are nickel, cadmium & lead-free?
Thanks,
