They said they could try a composite but it probably wouldn't be
successful, because once you do a pulpotomy the tooth becomes very
brittle like an eggshell and a composite is not strong enough to
hold it together, and could even damage the tooth more.
Thank you for your reply.

My son had a pulpotomy and they put in the composite . It's a
tooth. I'm not sure why they would put in a crown. He had twoteeth
that needed a pulpotomy. One they were able to do a compositewere
filling, the other they pulled because it got infected. They
going to put in a spacer, but it was not going to be metal. (Ithink
it was a very hard plastic> But, they did x-rays when they pulledit
and apparently they felt it the permanent tooth would be in withina
month, and it would be OK without. My son is 9, though, so maybeIs
that makes a difference. How long are they saying a composite
filling would last?

for athere a way to fix it without putting that formocresol in there
dentist tofew weeks and then putting a stainless steel crown that probably
contains nickel, cadmium and lead? I doubt I could get the
beagree to pull it, and even if he did, there'd have to be a metal
spacing appliance put in (which would most likely contain nickel,
cadmium, lead - like braces). A white composite filling wouldn't
crowns onstrong enough. They said they only will do stainless steel
thatbaby teeth. Does anyone know of any brands of stainless crowns
are nickel, cadmium & lead-free?
