<< Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that is produced in the liver >>

Glutathione is produced in every cell in the body, and each cell's
glutathione is mostly of its own making.

The liver has lots of it - and people pay attention to how much is in the
liver - because the liver does some chemistry that creates a lot of oxidative
stress that the rest of your body doesn't do. Mostly this is the chemistry
of handling food compounds and metabolic waste products. Certain kinds of
poisoning (e. g. tylenol) kill you by killing your liver with excessive
oxidative stress which depletes liver glutathione levels down to zero. The
treatment for these is to give things like Mucomyst (a trade name for NAC)
that increase liver glutathione levels.
